AMUM Wearable Art Design Competition 2022

The Art Museum of the University of Memphis seeks submissions for the Wearable Art Design Juried Student Competition, runway show, and exhibition. A juror, celebrity designer Michael Ngo, will review submissions and select the top twenty designs. Selected designers will receive a $200 stipend to turn their design concept into a wearable work of art. Designers will also be eligible to win awards at the runway fashion show.

Eligibility:

  • Open to all currently enrolled University of Memphis students
  • Students may elect to work in a team of up to three people. However, each student may only serve on one team and each team may submit one design. If selected, only one stipend will be awarded per student/team.
  • Students/Teams must have the skills to transform their design concept into a wearable work of art.
  • AMUM encourages the use of nontraditional materials, however AMUM cannot exhibit works of Wearable Art that pose a risk to its collections. Examples include food, flora, fauna, fungus, and open flames. Sorry to all the Little Monsters out there, but no meat dresses!
